Summarizing 2004 with the first sentence of the first post of each month:

Just a quick hello from Montreal--[info]papersky made us all a delightful New Year's Eve dinner, and we read to each other and drank good cider and watched a bit of snow come down, just a centimeter or two but quite pretty. I was commenting to [info]xiphias about funeral customs, and realized I was remembering my mother's parents' funerals, and secondarily [info]red_queen's mother's funeral. Okay. I punted exercise yesterday, so this morning I got up and went despite feeling decidedly like I'd rather not: by now I've been doing this long enough to know that exercising improves my mood. I have new glasses. I can't tell you much about Wiscon, beyond "what I did in Madison this weekend," because I went to almost no programming that I wasn't part of: half a panel, and part of Eleanor Arnason's reading. On our way to the subway, [info]cattitude noticed a squirrel with something in its mouth. Julian woke me this morning by meowing. I am here in gorgeous cool sunny Montreal (overnight lows below 20 C!), hanging out with [info]rysmiel and [info]zorinth. The vet says [info]julian_tiger is probably healthy, but to keep an eye on him, because if it looks like he has a cold, it might be the bartinella. Have a wonderful birthday, [info]papersky!

Oh, what fun!

"I am a whale. Today is the first day since my surgery that I've had a bit of energy, that I haven't felt like a complete wet sponge. New dishwasher! To 9th Ave. at 18th St. and back. First day without supplements! A bra that fits! I have fallen prey to the plastic mesh beaded sandals craze. Got confused somewhere in my Turkish stich, ripped out the whole bag in dissatisfaction. Oops, I did it again! Finished baby's hat yesterday. Buckets of rain this morning (ah, the joys of a tin roof [tin trapdoor on the roof]) washed the day so clean the sun squeaks."
